Grade 7 Social Studies

  • Assess the credibility of multiple sources and the adequacy of evidence used to justify conclusions (evidence)
    • Apply criteria to evaluate information and information sources (e.g., assess bias, reliability, authorship, currency, audience; confirm value using multiple sources)

 

GRADE 8

Grade 8 Social Studies

  • Assess the credibility of multiple sources and the adequacy of evidence used to justify conclusions (evidence)
    • Assess the accuracy of sources
    • Identify biases that influence documents
    • Locate and use relevant data

 

GRADE 9

Social Studies 9

  • Assess the justification for competing historical accounts after investigating points of contention, reliability of sources, and adequacy of evidence (evidence)
    • plan and conduct research using primary and secondary sources, including sources from a range of media types representing a range of perspectives
    • Assess information sources for selected topics in terms of bias and point of view

  • Content: communication technologies

 Asian Studies 12

Comparative Cultures 12

  • Evaluate inferences about the content, origins, purposes, context, reliability, and usefulness of multiple sources from the past and present

Genocide Studies 12

  • Assess the credibility of, and the justification for the use of evidence after investigating the reliability of sources and data, the adequacy of evidence, and the bias of accounts and claims (evidence)
  • Content: movements that deny the existence of or minimize the scope of genocides
    • What questions can we ask of the evidence used by genocide denial groups to assess the credibility of the sources and recognize the bias in these sources?

Human Geography 12

  • Assess a variety of interpretations of geographic evidence after investigating different perspectives, reliability of sources, and adequacy of evidence (evidence and interpretation)

Law Studies 12

  • Assess the justification for differing legal perspectives after investigating points of contention, reliability of sources, and adequacy of evidence (evidence)

Physical Geography 12

  • Assess the interpretations of geographic evidence after investigating points of contention, reliability of sources, and adequacy of evidence (evidence and interpretation)

Political Studies 12

  • Analyze political data and assess the reliability of sources (evidence)
  • Explain and infer different perspectives on political issues, decisions, or developments

Social Justice 12

  • Assess the justification for competing accounts after investigating points of contention, reliability of sources, and adequacy of evidence, including data (evidence)

Urban Studies 12

  • Ask questions about the content, origins, purposes, and context of multiple sources in order to corroborate inferences gathered from them (evidence)
