CTRL-F Digital Media Literacy Workshops

CIVIX is offering professional development sessions to support bringing CTRL-F’s Online Search Skills and Verification Skills lessons to the classroom.

Online Search Skills (Grades 4-8)

Participants will be introduced to the rationale of the module, review the lessons, and have a chance to practice some of the skills through activities. These lessons can be used by teachers of any grade level, but are designed with students in grades 4-8 in mind.

Workshops are held on Zoom and last 60 minutes.

Contemporary Verification Skills (Grades 7-12)

Participants will be introduced to CTRL-F’s Verification Skills methodology and three core skills, and given demonstrations of the techniques before applying the learning to guided hands-on practice. Examples will include false/misleading as well as reliable information, drawn from a range of online sources. These lessons can be used by teachers of any grade level, but are designed with students in grades 7-12 in mind.

Workshops are held on Zoom and last 75 minutes.
